Do it for Devo

On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, Devin Francis Merrill, loving husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend, passed away in Orem, UT, due to a sudden heart attack just 4 days before his 57th birthday.

Devin's biggest accomplishment is his three children, Luke, Lauren, and Jackson. He loved his kids more than anything in the world and always made sure that each child felt seen, safe, loved, and cared for. He was a proud father and would always share his kids’ accomplishments with others. Devin was the most amazing dad and would go above and beyond for his children. His children considered him their best friend and their biggest supporter. He prioritized his family above all and constantly showered them with love. Devin’s nickname, since his teen years, was Devo. He has been known by that nickname by his children and their friends in all of their sports and activities.

Leading up to his death, there was little on Devo's mind other than the success of his son Jackson at the upcoming 2023 UTPVA Street Vault. Devo always fought to ensure his children had the best opportunities. He was there to support and cheer on his children every step of the way. Not only did he come to most practices and every competition his children had, but he also got to know every other athlete and cheered on each of his children's teammates especially when their parents weren't able to make it. Devo quickly became a fast part of the UTPVA family and a beloved friend.

This competition goes out to all the great athletes we have had over the years and all the great parents who helped them to achieve greatness, supported them through the hard days, and cheered them on through the successes.
